What are the Western States Police and Fire Games?

On July 24-31, 2010, the 2010 Western States Police and Fire Games will be coming to Reno, Sparks, Lake Tahoe, Truckee and surrounding areas.

The purpose of the Games is to promote friendship, physical fitness, athletic competition and camaraderie among the Law Enforcement and Firefighting communities.  The Games also afford local businesses, organizations, and members of the community an opportunity to participate by volunteering or through financial or in-kind donations, which offer businesses positive exposure.  All events are spectator friendly, open to the community, and admission to attend is free.  All net proceeds, including any donated sporting equipment, supplies and office equipment obtained or received for the Games, will go to local charity organizations.

With the anticipated 5,000 police officers and firefighters competing in different sporting events at numerous venues throughout the area, we will need an estimated 600 to 1,000 volunteers to host the Games.  Volunteers will be needed for registration, merchandise sales, scorekeeping and timekeeping, logistical and operations support. For more information please call 775-857-1203 or write to Western States Police and Fire Games, P.O.
